Based at: Blackburn Rovers Academy, Brockhall Village, Old Langho, Blackburn, BB6 8BA. Flexibility regarding location is required.

Reports to: Women's Head Coach

Responsible for: N/A

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week and any additional hours necessary for the performance of duties. This will include regular evening and weekend work.

Contractual status: Permanent

Job purpose: To design, implement and enhance the analysis provision for Blackburn Rovers Women’s First Team. To provide insight and feedback in line with our club philosophy to support and encourage development and success of players and coaches.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • To be committed to ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all elite players, promoting their well-being whilst maintaining professional boundaries;
  • Support the Head Coach in the planning, preparation, delivery, and evaluation of coaching sessions and fixtures;
  • To lead and improve the player pathway to the first team through effective coaching and analysis, focussing on high performance and holistic player development within the U11-U21 age groups;
  • Drive and nurture a positive culture within the Women’s & Girl’s department. Be a member of the group who makes Blackburn Rovers a place where players learn, have fun, and develop.
  • To development implement a comprehensive, elite level analysis programme across the Women’s & Girl’s department;
  • To identify the strengths and weaknesses of opposition teams, our own team and individual players forming a comprehensive analysis programme within the Women’s and Girl’s department;
  • Provide and interpret statistics, as well as edit video footage to provide the Head Coach and players with relevant tactical, technical and physical information;
  • To film, code, analyse and edit footage and arrange data in such a way that it can be effectively communicated to coaches and coaching staff
  • Share views and opinions on player’s development in an open minded and positive way;
  • Prepare and deliver video analysis sessions for all age groups including, but not limited to, training topic introductions, pre-match opposition analysis and post match review sessions;
  • To provide a varied delivery method to engage and encourage participation of all involved
  • Maintain a database of video and ensure accessibility for all relevant stakeholders;
  • Produce materials as requested by management in support of team training or matches including video packages, presentations for team meetings and opposition analysis/research;
  • Provide input into selection decisions;
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the pathway curriculum alongside coaches;
  • To assist on the implementation of Individual Development Programmes;
  • To assist with the recruitment plans and process, using Club links to support player development;
  • Support and collaborate with the Head of Performance and first team staff to collectively deliver a clear and well understood playing style and game model throughout the pathway and first team;
  • Assist across the whole pathway to ensure high standard of coach delivery and 360 holistic support;
  • Provide the Head of Performance, Head of Academy and coaching staff with monthly performance reports on all players;
  • Work with individual players set appropriated development targets with a plan to work towards;
  • Educate coaches, players and parents with regard to the expectations, requirements and needs to play at the highest level;
  • Input information into monitoring systems to allow for analysis;
  • Provide feedback to players (using technology where appropriate);
  • Monitor and evaluate player development and provide feedback to players and staff on a regular basis;
  • Liaise with and work closely with coaches, medics and performance staff regarding player development, and prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries;
  • Encourage / support the holistic development of players to support them as people and players;
  • Work with the Safeguarding Manager to ensure that the wellbeing and welfare of all players and staff is always an operational priority;
  • Seek feedback from others, and reflect on personal behaviour and performance to identify areas for improvement;
  • Create and maintain a personalised Development Action Plan (DAP), taking input and feedback from a variety of sources;
  • Review personal competencies against job specification and identify areas for improvement;
  • Attend CPD events and undertake CPD activities in line with identified development themes; and
  • Be aware of current research and insight to support programme and coaching development.

Knowledge required:

  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding procedures and protocols;
  • The ability to demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit in the name of developing our footballing culture and environment;
  • Player recruitment/Talent ID experience;
  • Data analysis experience;
  • An understanding of long term player development and how to develop young Players;
  • A confident communicator whilst able to adapt style and approach as and when required;
  • The ability to engage with businesses, coaches and players;
  • Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills;
  • A conscientious approach to all areas of work;
  • Experience of working in a football environment; and
  • Understanding of the needs of the modern player in terms of their physical and psychological development.

Qualifications required:

  • Knowledge and understanding of elite female football;
  • Knowledge of player development within the female game;
  • Have a knowledge and multiple player links for enhancing player recruitment;
  • FA Safeguarding
