In order to invest to achieve this we need to ensure a market leading level of commercial return.

Wembley Stadium connected by EE is the national stadium of England and the home of English football.

With a 90,000 capacity and state-of-art facilities it is the largest multi-purpose venue in the UK.

Owned by the English Football Association, Wembley Stadium is built for the big occasion.

It has hosted some of the biggest names in sport, music, and entertainment throughout its 100-year history.

Rebuilt in 2007, the new Wembley Stadium provides the ultimate, unforgettable, fan experience.

The dramatic 133m tall arch on the north side of the stadium is visible across London and become an iconic symbol for the new Wembley.

In 2023, more than 2.2 million people visited Wembley Stadium.

Wembley Advisory Board

The role of the board will be to maintain Wembley Stadium as a world leading venue, hosting the biggest events on the planet, continually improving our levels of safety, security and service and delivering the very best experiences. In order to invest to achieve this we need to ensure a market leading level of commercial return.

The board shall meet a maximum of 4 times throughout a season and duties will be carried out across three key areas:

Stadium Safety, Security & service

  • Review the Wembley Stadium operational delivery framework (inc. resourcing and resilience) for event delivery including assurance regarding approach and planning for the delivery of major events / events of national significance at Wembley Stadium.
  • Periodically review and assure Wembley Stadium security plans (e.g., incident management and counter-terrorism plans) and discuss the safety and security implications of any proposed changes to partner agreements (e.g., Quintain, Metropolitan Police Service and Brent Council).
  • Review and approve any proposals that may impact Wembley Stadium safety and security (e.g., safe-standing) including annual Wembley Health & Safety assessment report.

Experience required;

  • Previous experience as either a stadium operator, police (specifically involved in event delivery) or counter terrorism agency.
  • Experience in dealing with the Sports Grounds Safety Authority.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Green Guide.
  • Previous experience of planning or delivering major events and / or tournaments.

Stadium Commercial

  • Identify and evaluate opportunities that could generate additional revenue for Wembley Stadium including retail and non event day revenues
  • Consider the commercial implications of any proposed changes to Wembley Stadium commercial partnership agreements.
  • Aim to secure the maximum value from existing and new Wembley Stadium commercial agreements.

Experience required;

  • Previous experience as a Commercial Director, preferably within live events or Stadium / Arena delivery, with experience in the music industry desirable.
  • Demonstrable experience in securing commercial revenue and investment for physical, asset-based partnerships.
  • Proven ability to negotiate multi-million-pound contracts.

Stadium Digital and experiential

  • Identify and evaluate any digital/experiential opportunities at Wembley Stadium that may enhance safety, security, the fan experience, and / or generate additional revenue.
  • Advise on and consider digital/experiential developments and trends related to stadium operations, safety and fan experience (e.g., artificial intelligence, facial recognition).

Experience required;

  • Previous experience as a Digital/Experiential Director, preferably within live events or Stadium / Arena delivery.
  • Savvy in the strategy and use of digital platforms & technology to develop, activate and enhance in stadium revenues and fan experience.
  • Previous experience of working with data and analytics to generate revenue or enhance the fan experience.

Term:

Appointments can serve for a maximum of 3 terms of 3 years.

Time Commitment:

Commit to up to 4 meetings per annum and be willing to attend events, if required.

Conflict of Interest:

Appointments must be free of any potential or perceived conflict of interest. i.e. an individual can't be or plan to be a supplier of goods or services to the Stadium.

Remuneration:

Appointments will be remunerated on a day rate based on meeting attendance which includes any preparation required in advance or necessary follow up.
