The job purpose of the Strategy & Ventures Executive is to support in the development and delivery of key strategic projects across City Football Group and its different clubs, business units and markets.

Role specific accountabilities:

Analyse complex data sets (e.g. large, incomplete, distinct) to identify key takeaways and trends, highlight potential opportunities or make recommendations to team managers

Conduct detailed research or benchmarking, identifying insights or opportunities relevant to CFG

Create well-formatted concise documents & presentations with appropriate tone and clear narrative appropriate for use/review by senior management, with manager guidance

Work with colleagues across the business to gather information/insight to help develop strategic projects

  • Take on day-to-day responsibility for progressing and delivering internal or external projects, providing visibility to managers and pre-emptively flagging areas of concern or seeking input as appropriate

Role specific knowledge, skills and experience:

Essential:

  • Good understanding of the basics of company financial statements and how to analyse/project the key line items in a P&L (especially for football clubs / other sports relevant businesses)
  • Good understanding of sports industry (both clubs and broader value chain), including key drivers of revenue/cost/profitability, business models, governance & regulatory structures in different markets etc.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Excel, including use of more complex formulae (e.g. array formulae, data tables, ‘what if’ analysis) and application of modelling best practices (e.g. traceability, ‘single source’, colour coding)
  • Able to work independently, managing own workload to balance priorities and required timelines, tracking progress on projects and providing succinct manager updates
  • Comfortable working with people in different departments or with different areas of expertise
  • Can apply an “80:20” approach, focussing time on those areas most critical to a successful project outcome
  • Able to propose solutions, as well as identify problems
  • Quick learner who takes on board feedback and advice from manager / wider team
  • Analytical mindset and ability to present information clearly and concisely
  • Excellent attention to detail, consistently producing robust, reliable, and accurate analysis free from errors
  • Flexibility – able to pivot quickly across a range of projects that could vary significantly by entity / client / project focus / deliverable / scale / timeline / approach / manager style
