We are looking for a Senior Academy Auditor to support the General Manager deliver the strategic objectives and provide leadership across the Professional Game Academy Audit Company (PGAAC)
As part of the Elite Player Performance Plan, the overarching professional-game strategy for the development of youth footballers in England, the Academies of professional football clubs are categorised into four categories (1-4), based on a combination of spend, infrastructure, staffing, and qualitative assessments of their provisions across a range of multidisciplinary areas.
To effectively categorise Academies and to support the continual raising of standards in elite player development, an independent standards organisation has been developed, mandated by the professional game, to monitor safety, compliance and the quality of work being delivered.
The independent standards organisation oversees a multidisciplinary assessment of Academies across; Leadership and Management, Coaching, Performance Support, Duty of Care, Education, Safeguarding, and Productivity.
The Role:
- Working closely with and supporting the General Manager to provide strategic leadership and development of the PGAAC and its function.
- Support the delivery of the strategic objectives based on the PGAAC KPI outputs and objectives.
- Supervising staff performance for staff under their direct management and specific auditing disciplines.
- An integral member of the PGAAC Senior Management Team.
- Support the General Manager in overseeing the daily business and administrative operations and improving operating procedures for optimal efficiency.
- Assisting with staff recruitment including identification of staff requirements, interviewing candidates, final selection, and onboarding.
- Analyse current operational processes, policies, systems, and performance, recommending solutions for improvement and implementing new procedures.
- Ensure effective professional development and performance management for staff working in the disciplines under their direct management.
- Build links with stakeholders, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests.
- Working on audit assignments all the way from planning through to completion and identifying key risk areas in the audit planning process. Reviewing Audit reports and amending where necessary.
- Continue to progress and implement a system to develop the PGAAC Team to deliver the best auditing experience for Clubs.
- Work closely with the General Manager to review and evolve the PGAAC Staff competency Framework.
- Ensure the auditing team maintains an up-to-date knowledge of their discipline related practice.
- Establish and maintain standard practices and procedure across the Audit process.
- Develop checks to ensure internal consistency between auditors.
- Ensure the outputs delivered to Clubs from the auditing process are of a high and consistent standard.
Requirements for the role:
• Experience of mentoring people in an elite environment
• Previous experience in reviewing, assessing, and developing recommendations for multidisciplinary development programs at a strategic level
• Experience of working with children and adults at risk and/or knowledge and understanding of issues that affect their safety and wellbeing
• Professional history of managing people and projects.
Knowledge
• High practical and theoretical understanding of talent development demands in elite level sport
• Understanding and appreciation of context and cultural difference between clubs of different sizes and philosophies
• Appropriate degree and / or relevant management qualification (or equivalent experience.)
• Knowledge of the Interdisciplinary areas covered by the Audit
