Contract Type: Fixed Term until 31st July 2025 (potential to be extended dependent on project success and funding)

Working Pattern: 35 Hours per Week (Mon -Fri)

The Role

As a STEM Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in driving the development and delivery of a brand-new STEM learning curriculum delivering engaging and educational STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) programmes to Primary, Secondary school and FE students, as well as facilitating professional development opportunities for teachers and internal staff. The programme will engage children and young people in a range of creative and innovative curriculum and extra-curriculum activities that will inspire a lifelong love for STEM, raise aspirations and promote STEM career opportunities in the local community.

The post holder will work with the Education Manager to design and implement opportunities for young people to take part in hands on STEM based learning and STEM based events. This will include utilising a variety of products, whilst developing new ways to continuously develop and embed STEM throughout our education provision.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Education Manager, the STEM Coordinator will be expected to:

  • Engage with children in a range of creative and innovative curriculum and extra-curricular activities that will inspire and promote STEM, in line with the Education and Charity strategic vision.

  • Raise aspirations of local children and young people and promote STEM local careers through working with a variety of STEM partners to highlight the STEM work they undertake within the local area.

  • Inspire a lifelong love of stem, providing participants with access to opportunities and highlight the careers available.

  • Write an engaging and inspiring STEM curriculum offer which meets the needs of Primary and Secondary school children, alongside embedding National Curriculum Key Stage objectives.

  • Work alongside partners to ensure the STEM curriculum meets the needs of the target audience and supports active delivery.

  • To line manage a small team of staff completing appraisals and any other related formal processes.

  • To develop confidence and competence by modelling good practice and acting as a mentor to the STEM/Primary/Secondary education team.

  • To ensure meticulous planning is conducted prior to each session that is delivered, with considerations being made for individuals’ needs and requirements.

  • To deliver the highest possible quality of STEM, interventions and community sessions, to a wealth of participants with varying abilities, needs and demands, in a variety of different environments.

  • Work with existing suppliers and source new suppliers of STEM based learning technology.

  • To partake in the crucial processes of monitoring and evaluation, to ensure that the progress / impact of any given provision is reporting to key funders in a timely and effective manner.

  • Develop a framework to demonstrate the impact the programme has on the participants.

  • To ensure that all participants are kept safe and well, before, during and after the delivery of a given session.

  • Ensure all equipment is prepared and suitable for each session, this includes first aid kits.

  • Liaise with schools, teachers and other organisations to ensure the most up to date, highest-quality STEM programme is delivered to all participants.

  • To continuously evaluate the success / standards of own work and that of others, through rigorous self and departmental reflection and analysis.

  • Work with colleagues on additional Community programmes to support participants to access the STEM curriculum.

  • Work with the Education Manager to manage key relationships with the programme partners ensuring progress and impact is regularly shared.

  • Work with the Education Manager to continuously develop and grow BFCitC’s STEM programme.

  • Any other duties deemedappropriate by the Education Manager or equivalent.

  • Comply with all Charity policies.

  • To be able to work flexibly where the role of the job requires.

  • To work towards agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • Promote Burnley FC in the Community brand and ethos in a professional, strong and positive manner.

  • Willingness to attend training courses to enhance own professional development.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience

  • A teaching qualification (PTTLS, QTS, PGCE)

  • Safeguarding certificate or the willingness to undertake training.

  • First Aid certificate or the willingness to undertake training.

  • Five GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Maths.

  • Experience of delivering high quality educational programmes.

  • Experience of working with children and young people from a variety of backgrounds.

  • Experience of working in a school setting.

  • Full driving license and/or have regular access to the use of a vehicle.

  • Experience of writing and delivering STEM based curriculums.
