The aim of our Sports Science Team is to provide world leading inter-disciplinary practice in the support of the performance and health of our elite players.
The department promotes high performance, injury prevention, injury rehabilitation and development of elite training environments, is a key part of our Club, and works in collaboration with a fully integrated team of medical personnel including physiotherapists, nutritionist's and psychologists.

Reporting directly into our Head of Sports Science you will operate as an expert within the field of Physical Performance, you will work in an inter-disciplinary manner with the wider team regarding the status and physical preparation required to maximise performance, promote athletic development and reduce the risk of injury.
You will contribute towards the efficient and effective functioning of the department, testing, monitoring, profiling, and evaluating all first team squad players to ensure that Strength and Conditioning programmes are in place, and that each players physical development requirements are tailored to their specific needs and priorities. You will be expected to contribute to, and help shape, the working culture and philosophies of the department.
Who we are looking for: We are looking for a talented and passionate individual who has experience of working within elite sport, which does not necessarily need to be football.
You must have an extensive understanding of the impact Sports Science, and related disciplines, have on athletic performance; evolving this through having been involved in conducting scientifically underpinned assessments, monitoring and evaluation procedures operating in an evidence-based manner. The selected candidate must also be flexible enough to rotate into a travelling performance team that supports our elite players through competitive fixtures, both home and away.
We need someone who possess the ability to work discreetly under pressure, but also as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and can evidence on-going CPD in major speciality of their work portfolio.
It is essential that the successful candidate has the following educational experience;
- Sports Science Degree, or equivalent level qualification
- Masters Level Qualification in relevant field
- UKSCA/NSCA (or working towards)
- Bases Accreditation (or working towards)
This role is on a permanent basis, working 40 hours per week and is based within Finch Farm training ground in Liverpool (Halewood).
