The Women’s team gained promotion for the 2019–20 FA WSL season after finishing second in the 2018–19 FA Women's Championship and has been a professional full-time set-up since.
The Physical Performance Coach will take an applied practitioner role working directly with players at Tottenham Hotspur Women between the ages 14- 21. They will lead, manage & develop sport science and strength and conditioning strategies that will help support and nurture elite young female footballers at the club.
This role is essential for the club’s ambition to have an aligned Academy and First Team which will help the club’s productivity in local home-grown players.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Physical Performance Coach will take an applied practitioner role working directly with players at Tottenham Hotspur Women between the ages 14- 21. They will lead, manage & develop sport science and strength and conditioning strategies that will help support and nurture elite young female footballers at the club.
This role is essential for the club’s ambition to have an aligned Academy and First Team which will help the club’s productivity in local home-grown players.
You will be based at the Training Centre in Enfield where all Women’s First Team training and coaching activities occur. The position will involve working out of office hours including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure compliance with all the Policies and Procedures contained within the Staff Handbook, always paying regard to the Equal Opportunities Policy and Health & Safety Policy and procedures.
- Plan and implement programmes specific to biological age, S&C and Football needs of each individual in-line with the Clubs Physical Development Philosophy framework.
- Deliver late-stage reconditioning pitch and gym sessions/programmes.
- Liaise with coaches to help structure and manage the training week.
- Work with the clubs Nutritionists to implement effective nutritional strategies.
- Maintain accurate data records to help guide physical programmes, support the coaching staff to design training sessions on an individual level, and direct in-house research.
- Provide sport science support at all U21 and U16 training sessions.
- Provide sport science support at home and away matches, plus relevant Academy National/International tournaments and training camps.
- To be organised, pro-active and innovative.
- To execute duties in a professional and conscientious manner and be an impressive member of staff.
- When required, assist the implementation of academy-wide physical development programmes.
- Conduct physical testing in-line with PGA and Tottenham Hotspur protocols.
- To flag any issues or concerns to the Head of Performance & Female Athlete Health
- To attend refresher and development training, when necessary, e.g.: safeguarding, first aid and H&S.
- Help with the upkeep of both academy and First Team gyms and general housekeeping.
- To be aware of emergency procedures and the Health and Safety at Work Act relating to the various sites.
- Ensure a strict code of confidentiality in respect to any information linked to Tottenham Hotspur.
- Any other duties commensurate with the position/grade.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Degree in Sports Science or Strength & Conditioning or equivalent – essential
- Postgraduate Degree in Sports Science or Strength & Conditioning or equivalent- desirable
- Track record (post-internship) delivering effective Sports Science programs in Elite Sport, preferably in Football.
- BASES accreditation
- Current Safeguarding Children certificate and First Aid
- Solid written and spoken communication skills.
