JOB TITLE: Partnership Sales Manager

DEPARTMENT: Partnerships

REPORTS TO: Head of Partnerships

LOCATION: Molineux

HOURS: 37.5 hours per week, 9am – 5.30pm weekdays, all matchdays and events

Job purpose

Reporting to the Head of Partnerships, the Partnership Sales Manager will be responsible for ensuring the sales team exceed the Club’s objectives for partnership sales and retention.

In this role you will have a great opportunity to make a significant impact on the Club’s commercial partnership operation, generating revenue, securing commercial deals, and contributing to the achievement of the club’s key commercial targets.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Club’s partnership sales function. This will include leading a hungry and dynamic team of Partnership Sales Executives, setting and monitoring KPIs, tracking sales activity, providing updates to the Head of Partnerships, supporting Sales Executives on new business approaches and delivering their own sales.

Working closely with the Head of Partnerships you will plan and execute a sales strategy that delivers against the Club’s partnership revenue targets.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure that sales performance targets and progress are clearly visible in CRM and oversee the production of a weekly sales report for the Head of Partnerships and General Manager – Marketing and Commercial Growth
  • Act as the first point of contact for sales executives seeking advice on inventory, pricing, negotiation, and support them with closing deals
  • Deliver new business sales and ensure the sales team achieves its revenue targets
  • Conduct sales meetings with prospective partners alongside Sales Executives
  • Support the ongoing training and development of the Sales Executives
  • Liaise with internal club departments for support on partnership proposals, ensuring assets are agreed and deliverable
  • Manage day-to-day sales team operations - expense claims, holiday entitlement and staffing schedules
  • Encourage overall motivation of the sales team and bring new ideas to the Head of Partnerships for improving culture and performance
  • Be a primary point of contact for club partners
  • Be an ambassador for the club’s brand values and challenger narrative within the department.

Person Specification

Job Title: Partnership Sales Manager

Knowledge: the level and breadth of knowledge to do the job e.g. understanding of a defined system, method or procedure, legal or regulatory frameworks etc

Essential

  • Commercially aware, with an ability to deliver strong numerical reporting
  • Knowledge and understanding of inventory, rights, and commercial values of sports rights holders (preferably football)
  • Ability to manage change and implement processes and structures
  • An understanding of effective B2B sales practices

Desirable

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the commercial aspects of a Premier League Football Club

Technical/work-based skills: skills specific to the job e.g. language competence, typing skills, coaching skills etc

Essential

  • Excellent telephone manner with an ability to present to, and negotiate with, C-level professionals both over the phone and face to face
  • Ability to deliver sales pipelines, presentations, and reports with a high level of accuracy

Desirable

  • Speaking multiple languages is advantageous

General skills and attributes: more general characteristics e.g. flexibility, communication skills, team working etc

  • Understanding of how to work safely with children and/or adults at risk and uphold generally accepted practice when working with those participants

Experience: proven record of experience in a particular field, profession or specialism.

Essential

  • Previous experience in a role involving selling commercial sponsorships in a sport setting or sponsorship agency
  • Strong leadership and relationship management skills
  • Proven business-to-business sales experience with a track record of delivering high value sponsorship deals
  • Delivering results with assigned levels of accountability
  • Resilience and the ability to cope with rejection

Qualifications: the level of educational, professional and/or occupational training required

Essential

  • Educated to A level or higher

Desirable

  • Degree in business related studies
  • Professional sales/sponsorship qualifications
