Role: First Team Physiotherapist (MCWFC)

It is an exciting time to work in Women’s football with increased levels of visibility and funding.

This role would suit an ambitious, driven, and skilled physiotherapist with a passion for working with female athletes. You will be based at the City Football Academy on the Etihad campus. Our facilities are amongst the best in the world with access to elite sport rehabilitation modalities.

The role comprises delivering physiotherapy services to the First team squad with many players capped at international level.

We are committed to developing you as an individual through in house and external CPD opportunities. We work alongside the Girls & Boys academy and Men’s first team with frequent sharing of experience & knowledge between practitioners.

Accountabilities with Key Outcomes:


Deliver the provision of physiotherapy for the women’s 1st team players alongside two further physiotherapists.


Deliver best practice at every stage of injury management including:

  • Injury assessment & diagnosis
  • Rehabilitation planning and delivery


Work closely with the FA and other national teams to ensure efficient and effective player transitions between club and country


Proactively contribute to MCWFC MDT meetings through collaboration with Women’s Head of Sports Science and S&C, Women’s Head of Physiotherapist, Women’s Doctor and Women’s Director of Performance.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:


Degree in Physiotherapy

Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) & registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)

To hold an up-to-date advanced emergency pitch-side qualification (eg ATMMiF or equivalent

Knowledge and understanding in the elite sport setting of: Athlete support personnel roles and responsibilities under the WADA code & Female health and performance.

Considerable experience of delivering physiotherapy support in an elite sporting environment, to include leading on the rehabilitation of common and complex football injuries.


Experience of working with female athletes.

Experience working within first-team football environments.

Have travelled with a team internationally.
