Founded in 1882, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is an English Premier League Club, based in North London.

Led by the late great Bill Nicholson, the Club became the first in England to win the League and FA Cup Double in 1961, and the first in the UK to win a European Trophy two years later. Spurs has since been home to some of the game’s great entertainers, including Jimmy Greaves, Glenn Hoddle, Paul Gascoigne, David Ginola, Gareth Bale, Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane.

In April 2019, the Club opened an iconic new stadium that sits at the heart of a £1billion sport-led regeneration of North Tottenham. The stadium is the largest football club stadium in London and is a multi-use venue with the ability to host a variety of events 365 days a year, including NFL, boxing, rugby, concerts, and other major events, plus visitor attractions including Stadium Tours and the Dare Skywalk.

The stadium development scheme has to date created more than 4,000 new jobs for local people, with circa £300m pumped into the local economy each year.

The Football Insights Department provides data-derived insights that impact decision-making across football departments, from the First Team to the Academy and including both Men's and Women's teams. Our mission is ensuring that critical processes, from player recruitment to performance optimisation, are consistently informed by thorough, high-quality information. With a focus on building a single source of truth, developing rigorous quantitative models, and delivering effective tools for interrogating data, our intention is to empower stakeholders with insightful statistical analyses that are both timely and actionable. Leveraging data as our fundamental commodity and powered by talent, we are looking to push the cutting edge of football analytics to drive the club towards its ambitious footballing vision.


  • To lead the data-driven scouting initiative by identifying, analysing, and evaluating players using advanced statistical analysis, ensuring the club identifies and acquires talent that aligns with our football methodology and strategic goals
  • To serve as the primary analytical support for the Scouting Department, acting as a bridge between in-depth data analysis and scouting objectives to enhance player analysis processes and foster evidence-based practice within the club.
  • To development and maintain data-derived scouting tools and systems, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless integration with the club’s broader data strategy.


  • Lead the development and enhancement of scouting tools and systems, maintaining and innovating metrics and models from multiple data sources to support effective player analysis and recruitment.
  • Collaborate closely with the scouting department to understand and address scouting requirements, ensuring data analysis aligns with the club’s recruitment criteria, and working with a high degree of autonomy on projects to deliver appropriate solutions.
  • Develop and maintain advanced statistical models for player comparison and valuation, incorporating data from diverse sources to support recruitment decisions.
  • Prepare and deliver insightful reports and presentations on player performance and trajectory, employing sophisticated data visualisation techniques to communicate complex insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Create and refine interactive Tableau dashboards to enable in-depth player assessments and facilitate comparison and benchmarking at scale.
  • Manage key relationships with data vendors and technology partners, ensuring access to timely and relevant data that supports the club’s processes.
  • Provide feedback to the data science and engineering team on model developments, suggesting improvements to enhance the efficacy of data-driven scouting techniques.
  • Enhance data literacy among non-data roles within the club, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Engage with the club's Technology Department to innovate and develop new solutions that increase operational efficiency and create synergies across both football and non-football departments.
  • Contribute to the expansion of the Football Insights department by establishing best practices and identifying areas for growth, thus shaping its future direction and capabilities.
  • Drive innovation in football analytics by establishing networks with external partners and leading clubs, actively disseminating new practices and knowledge within the Football Insights department.




  • Bachelor's or higher degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related fields).
  • Demonstrated expertise in data analysis with a strong foundation in statistical methods and data visualisation.
  • Proficiency in statistical programming languages, particularly Python or R, and experience in SQL for data querying.
  • Experience with Tableau for creating impactful and interactive dashboards that translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data insights into clear, actionable recommendations for a non-technical audience.
  • Deep understanding of football analytics, player evaluation metrics, and the landscape of football data providers.


  • Previous experience within a football club’s scouting or performance analysis department, with a strong understanding of scouting processes and player recruitment strategies.
  • Experience with utilising StatsBomb data.
  • Experience with utilising SkillCorner data.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data analytics platforms and technologies
  • Experience with Snowflake for cloud data warehousing.
