Job description

Founded in 1882, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is an English Premier League Club, based in North London.

Led by the late great Bill Nicholson, the Club became the first in England to win the League and FA Cup Double in 1961, and the first in the UK to win a European Trophy two years later. Spurs has since been home to some of the game’s great entertainers, including Jimmy Greaves, Glenn Hoddle, Paul Gascoigne, David Ginola, Gareth Bale, Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane.

In April 2019, the Club opened an iconic new stadium that sits at the heart of a £1billion sport-led regeneration of North Tottenham. The stadium is the largest football club stadium in London and is a multi-use venue with the ability to host a variety of events 365 days a year, including NFL, boxing, rugby, concerts, and other major events, plus visitor attractions including Stadium Tours and the Dare Skywalk.

The stadium development scheme has to date created more than 4,000 new jobs for local people, with circa £300m pumped into the local economy each year.

Job Purpose

Supervisors should ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, they have prepared a safe environment to facilitate the safety of all attendees at events held at the Stadium.

You will lead by example, inspiring and guiding your team to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all staff and visitors. Supervisors will work within the law and the event regulations as set down by the Club in accordance with the Stadium Safety Certificate.

  • Supervisors must complete the pre-event checks relevant to the area to which they have been assigned and must advise Control of any defects or missing equipment prior to opening the stadium or egress.
  • Supervisors are responsible for the management of their allocated resources including, traffic marshal, NRSWA and CSAS staff, issued equipment and equipment pre located in their designated area.
  • Supervisors are responsible for the preparation of their allocated transport team.
  • Responsible for a team of car park and traffic management personnels, you will ensure each member of your team is briefed prior to commencing duties and are familiar with the area in which they will be working. You’ll regularly check each member of your team and provide ongoing support and instructions as required.
  • Supervisors have a responsibility for maintaining a safe environment throughout the duration of their shift the safety of members of the public and staff occupying an area to which they have been assigned.
  • Supervisors will be proactive in resolving any issues reported to you by transport staff/member of public in a professional manner, escalating as necessary.
  • In dealing with matters relating to crowd safety or unacceptable behaviour and will keep the transport management team informed should they require assistance.
  • Assist with the ongoing development of transport team by ensuring any feedback is documented, this includes any performance issues which should be reported to the Transport management team on the day.
  • Supervisors are responsible for the welfare and development of their team.
  • Where a team member consistently does not meet the requirements expected by Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, either in behaviours or lack of engagement with team or customers they are required to inform the transport management team for further action.
  • Supervisors must have a thorough understanding of the content of the “Staff Emergency Procedures” whilst on duty at the Stadium and be fully aware of the operational protocols for post-match queue management across the local transport hubs.
  • Supervisors should always conduct themselves in a way that reflects to the Club values. This applies when attending other Clubs whether in a working or private capacity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will lead your team of Car Park and Traffic Management personnel, being an exceptional role model.
  • Team Briefings and dissemination of information from the Transport Manager, their Deputy and/or (where appropriate) Clubs Safety Officers
  • Staff Deployment in accordance with the Operational (dot) plans
  • Ensure good staff rotation throughout the shift.
  • Ensure all staff present for duty in correct attire.
  • Report writing (pre, post and during event).
  • Radio communications.
  • PEAPS Checks.
  • iPad management & Squad management.
  • Staff development and mentoring of new starters within the team.
  • Maintain excellent stadium wide knowledge of venue layout and operational requirements of the car park team and traffic management team and additional equipment provided to carry out assigned duties.
  • Always demonstrate excellence: uniform and appearance, communication, punctuality, and issue resolution
  • Attend Supervisor training and development sessions.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • NRSWA Qualification or Prior Supervisory experience at Events ideally in car park and traffic management

Desirable

  • An excellent Leader, able to lead in a regularly changing environment.
  • Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Display excellent supervision skills.
  • Solutions orientated and calm under pressure.
  • Must have a can-do attitude and flexible approach to working.
