Key Duties/Responsibilities:

  • In line with the Academy philosophy and player development plan develop a Programme for improving the individual player.
  • Work closely with the Academy Manager and Head of Coaching to consistently review the Technical Programme and Player ILP’s
  • Develop a Programme based around being around Specific to the individual and not position specific. This will be mainly 12-16 age groups with some PDP within the weekly Programme.
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to understand and implement a comprehensive curriculum for physical, psychological and social components of player development at all ages that underpins the technical and tactical coaching programme and enables players to achieve their full potential, nurturing our talent to produce players capable of making the transition to the next phase;
  • Attend weekly Academy MDT meetings to gain an insight into current and future performance. Develop a clear and simple individual target/challenge for every players 12-16
  • Work with Lead phase and age group coaches to decide on a clear and simple target that can be practiced by repetition. Something the player really sees as important and motivational.Plan a weekly timetable where players can come in pre session or post session for an individual session with a staff member. (Players with same targets could work together) Base this on where parents are travelling from and how to make best use of their time. Could also use day release/Saturday mornings
  • Aim to get targeted players 1 individual session per week
  • In liaison with Phase Lead coaches be available to work unit/Position specific and small group work with any identified players
  • To take ownership of your own Coaching Personal Development, creating links to other Elite player developers, looking to gain a better understanding of the role so as to improve the players you are working with.
  • To attend all in-service training sessions and meetings when requested.
  • To maintain your qualifications in-line with FA rules & regulations.
  • To adhere to club policies with particular emphasis to safeguarding children and equity.
  • To report any serious breaches of discipline to the Academy Manager.
  • To complete all necessary paperwork as requested by the Academy Manager, The Premier League or FA including items such as session plans, feedback forms, NVQ folders, progress reports and any other forms should they be requested.
