JOB TITLE: Data & Insights Manager (Commercial Partnerships)

DEPARTMENT: Commercial (Partnerships)

REPORTS TO: Head of Partnerships

LOCATION: Molineux Stadium

HOURS: 37.5 weekdays & home matchdays as necessary

Job purpose

The Data & Insights Manager will be responsible for all research, sales support, and data analysis for the Commercial Partnerships Department.

Reporting directly to the Head of Partnerships, they will be responsible for identifying and researching potential Partners and building proposals for prospects as well as leading on the analysis and monitoring the performance of existing Club Partners.

During the sales phase, their role will be to support the sales team with data, insights, and analysis on prospective Partners, as well as compiling relevant and accurate data on the Club’s national and global audience. They will work with the sales team to build accurate and compelling, tailored proposals with a view to securing new Partners.

The Data & Insights Manager will also be responsible for generating performance reports to share with current Club Partners. They will benchmark exposure, activation performance, and ROI with a view to driving partner retention, identifying additional opportunities, and driving incremental revenue.

The role will also require the effective management of the Club’s CRM system (Microsoft Dynamics), including the management of CRM pipelines, and will be required to present updates on a weekly basis to the wider Partnerships Team.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify, research, and generate new partnership prospects through independent research and market analysis
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Club’s Partnership offering, in order to build compelling, data-led proposals with the sales team
  • Maintain a good understanding of key partnership target sectors and build robust leads lists of relevant prospects within each sector
  • Identify relevant decision makers for the sales team to approach
  • Generate partnership performance presentations detailing media valuation, activation performance, and ROI with a view to securing renewals and incremental revenue
  • Support the Partnership Team in developing methods to create additional value for existing partners
  • Oversee the effective use of the CRM system, ensuring data is accurate and accessible, and presented in a structured, professional manner
  • Weekly reporting of CRM sales leads and conversions to the Head of Partnerships and wider team
  • Building relationships with existing Partners with a view to driving incremental revenues
  • Responsible for the production of performance reports for existing Partners
  • Whilst not their primary responsibility, they will also develop relationships with potential partners with a view to moving prospects through the sales pipeline
  • Ensure that the Club continues to progress and is at the forefront of commercial trends

Knowledge: Knowledge of Sports Partnership structure, the Premier League market place and wider economic and sponsorship market trends

Essential

- In-depth knowledge of Sports Partnerships; the commercial benefits, marketing assets, relevant data points

- Knowledge of the Premier League; broadcast coverage, viewing figures, global exposure, and wider commercial opportunities

- Knowledge of various key Partner markets and a good eye for commercial and sports trends

- A good understanding of key Partnership data points, including media values & digital visibility

Desirable

- An understanding of Premier League Club Partnership sales processes

Technical/work-based skills: Proven ability to research, analyse and build compelling, data-led business propositions

Essential

- Ability to identify, research and prospect relevant national and global brands

- Ability to analyse, interpret, and contextualize complex data

- Ability to work quickly and efficiently while under pressure and facing tight deadlines

- Competent across MS Excel, Powerpoint, and CRM databases

Desirable

- Ability to manage a Microsoft Dynamics CRM database

General skills and attributes: Excellent communication, data management, presentation skills, computer literacy, and team working skills

- Strong communication and team working skills - the ability to listen and digest information is vital

- Ability to present information and reports to both peers and potential customers

- Ability to understand and interpret complex data and use it to build business cases

- Ability to lead on the creation of complex presentations

Experience: Proven record of providing analytical reports, sales pipelines and business-to-business relationship development

Essential

- Proven record of identification, research and prospecting that has led to securing new business

- Proven record of developing relationships with international business customers

- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a data & insights and/or sports marketing role

Desirable

- Generating analytical reports for regional, national and global organisations

- Experience working within a Premier League Football Club

- Experience working with Nieslen Sports Data

Qualifications: the level of educational, professional and/or occupational training required.

- Educated to A-Level, equivalent or higher

- Degree in Business Management, Economics or equivalent
