The Purpose

To be responsible for all aspects of the day to day operational activities of the Cliff Training Ground for the GPS department giving supervisory control of directly employed staff and to manage and monitor specialist contract staff carrying out maintenance activities within the Club.

The Role
  • To ensure the provision of a cost effective, timely and quality driven maintenance service to the Club.
  • Ensuring that planned and reactive maintenance work is completed within designated time spans.
  • To record all identifiable work which needs to be followed up. Ensuring that data, such as time and action is taken and completed work orders are fed back into the helpdesk system.
  • Carry out judgments of situations, some of which may be complex and may have several solutions whilst ensuring legislation and relevant regulations are still adhered to.
  • Communicate efficiently with relevant customers/stakeholders.
  • To observe current health & safety guidance in maintaining own and others health, safety, and security.
  • Raise purchase orders for materials, goods, and services to ensure the timely, cost effective, completion of work orders. Authorising payments to suppliers & contractors when works are satisfactorily completed and closing purchase orders when good are received.
  • Implementation and monitoring of any potential maintenance on-call system.
  • Ensure all statutory and mandatory maintenance is carried out in accordance with current legislation including lifts, gas boilers etc
  • Assist the Facilities Manager with Lifecycle planning including the delivery of Capex works and Minor works.

The Person
  • Advanced City & Guilds in electrical engineering that have been studied for whilst completing a recognised apprenticeship (min 4 years) or NVQ level 3 qualification. 17th Edition would be desirable.
  • Experience in managing and resolving conflict within areas of responsibility.
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturers technical literature as and when required.
  • Must have a history and training record to support multi-skilled working. Knowledge and ability to perform joinery, plumbing and mechanical fitting tasks competently.
  • Five years relevant experience in an engineering, building maintenance or construction industry.
  • Understand Safety regulations pertaining to the work undertaken within a busy maintenance department.
  • Completed relevant health and safety training such as IOSH Managing Safely.
