JOB TITLE: Academy Kit Manager

DEPARTMENT: Football Administration /Academy

REPORTS TO: Head of Kit/ Head of Academy Operations

LOCATION: Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground/Molineux

HOURS: 37.5 hours plus Matchdays (Home and Away)

Job purpose

As Academy Kit Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring there is an exceptional kit and equipment service to the male and female Academy Teams. Based at the Club’s Training Ground, you will be extremely organised, with a keen eye for detail. You will be a flexible team player with strong management skills. A clean driving licence and having the flexibility to travel nationally and internationally are essential.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the Academy’s kit department to ensure there are effective processes and practice’s that can service the male and female teams to the best possible standard.
  • Liaise with the Academy’s management, coaching staff and administrators on all matters concerning kit and equipment for all age groups.
  • Develop and maintain an electronic monitoring and logging system for kit and equipment that provides live data of stock levels and planned distribution.
  • To co-ordinate the rota for the department and to deploy staff across the programme to meet the needs of the teams.
  • To take responsibility for a specific age group, to be determined with the Head of Kit and Academy Operations.
  • Ensuring the effective logistical planning for all required Academy kit and equipment, attending home/away games as required in liaison with the Academy Management and Coaching Teams.
  • When required, organise and co-ordinate within the team all kit and equipment for away travel and the loading of club transport ready for departure.
  • Ensure all academy kit is laundered correctly and packed away within the required timelines, liaising with the other kit staff and academy coaches regarding the washing, drying and preparation of bibs, training and match kit.
  • Order, securely store and distribute all kit and equipment as directed by Academy management.
  • Maintain the quality and cleanliness of all kit and equipment assigned to the Club’s Academy.
  • Mark and maintain all kit with the relevant initials/names, as directed by Academy Management.
  • Assist the Head of Kit with implementing and monitoring of the financial budgets for Academy kit, laundry and equipment.
  • To oversee the match kit protocol for U8 – U23 age groups; to prepare the kit allocation and

maintain accurate records of all kit logs and report discrepancies to Lead Phase Coaches and Head of Academy Operations.

  • Other duties that may arise from time to time within the scope of the role.

Job Title: Academy Kit Manager

  • Industry experience
  • Strong team management experience

  • Previous inventory management experience
  • Experience of managing change

Technical/work-based skills: skills specific to the job e.g. language competence, typing skills, coaching skills etc

  • Competent IT Skills (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)

General skills and attributes: more general characteristics e.g. flexibility, communication skills, team working etc

Experience: proven record of experience in a particular field, profession or specialism.

Desirable

  • Working with children and/or adults at risk
  • Previous experience within a Football Club or sports-based environment

Qualifications: the level of educational, professional and/or occupational training required

Essential

  • Post-holder must hold or obtain at the earliest opportunity the relevant safeguarding training (i.e. FA Safeguarding Children Workshop)
  • Post-holder will be subject to a DBS check at the appropriate level and cleared by the Wolves Safeguarding Manager
