We are looking for a PGA Lead (10’s-14’s) & Coach Developer to support our departments.

Location: The Knighthead Training and Academy Grounds

Salary: Competitive

Hours of Work: Hours are set to meet the needs of the business but are a minimum of 37.5 hours per week.

JOB DESCRIPTION

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the PGA (10’s-14’s) while enabling coaches to deliver a positive experience for players.
  • Ensure that all budget requirements are in line and communicated with the PGA executive for sign off purposes.
  • Ensure logistics are effective and efficient, and communicated to players, parents/carers, and staff at all times.
  • Plan and monitor season-by-season budget with the operations executive for the PGA.
  • Work collaboratively with other key external football stakeholders (e.g., County FA, the FA, Local competitive and community clubs, academies,schools and the Foundation).
  • Lead and inspire an environment where any player, parent and coach are welcome.
  • Play a key role in making the PGA a place where players learn, have fun, and develop a love for the game.

    PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

  • Lead, developmentand oversee the delivery of the PGA’s player development strategy for the Under 10’s – Under 14’s aligned to the wider philosophy
  • Design and periodically review coaching curriculum.
  • Schedule player review meetings over the course of the season to support learning and development.
  • Lead and support the player selection policy alongside the ETC’s Talent Identification Plan ensuring accessible opportunities for potential players.
  • Work with the Club’s Safeguarding Manager and Women’s Safeguarding Manager to ensure that the wellbeing and welfare of all players and staff is always an operational priority.

    COACH DEVELOPMENT

  • Oversee ETC coaches in their planning, preparation, and evaluation of their coaching sessions.
  • Oversee the work of coaches to ensure ETC practice supports player engagement in their learning and development.
  • Ensure every coach within the PGA (10’s-14’s) has a personalised Development Plan that is tailored to meet development areas.
  • Observe and provide feedback to coaches to assist their development.
  • Design and deliver an ongoing CPD programme for Coaches of PGA Under 10’s – Under 14’s age groups and the Girls ETC.

    MATCH DAY

  • Be present at matchdays for the 10’s-14’s age groups on a rotational basis throughout age groups.
  • To attend PGA (16’s-18’s) and Women’s matchdays where possible to ensure alignment within the player and coach pathways.

    ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop relationships with parents; communicate with parents and educate them regarding their role in supporting their child’s football and personal development.
  • Contribute to the development of a learning environment where people take responsibility for their own development, feel able to learn from their mistakes, experiment and show humility.
  • Be an advocate and guardian of the women’s game.
  • Attend CPD events and undertake CPD activities in line with identified development themes.
  • Ensure that on pitch delivery aligns with the overall football philosophy of the club
  • Ensure compliance with all the Policies and Procedures contained within the Staff Handbook, paying regard to the Equality & Diversity, Safeguarding and Health & Safety Policies and procedures at all times.
  • Any other duties as deemed necessary by your Line Manager or Head of Department within the scope of the role.

    Qualifications

    Essential Requirements

  • UEFA B/FA Level 3 in Coaching Football or above
  • FA DBS
  • FA Safeguarding Children
  • FA Level 1 Introduction to First Aid in Football (IFAiF) or FA Emergency First Aid
  • An up to date understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures.

    Desirable Requirements

  • Engages in professional development other than technical football coaching development, for example:
  • Physical Development of Youth Female Players (growth and maturation, female athlete physiology & menstrual cycle).
  • Talent Identification & Talent Development across all sports (RAE, Unconscious Bias, Performance vs Potential).
  • Player support qualifications (e.g., Talented Athlete Lifestyle Support).
  • Coaching & mentoring qualification (e.g., EMCC).
  • A background in Talent Development.
  • Experience of creating and managing programmes to facilitate young players’ long term athletic development.
  • Experience of roles which have brought understanding of how children learn and develop (e.g., teaching).
  • Experience of leading a team of people.
  • Knowledge and awareness of diversity and equality challenges in football.

  • Experience of administrative management. This may or may not have been gained within football or other professional sports related field
  • Project management experience
  • An up to date understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures
  • Knowledge of The FA’s Girls Talent Development structure and pathway
  • Experience of managing and leading groups of people
  • Knowledge and awareness of diversity and equality challenges in football.

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively with a range of people and departments.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Terms of Appointment

  • 37.5 hours per week.
  • 20 days annual leave (rising by 1 day per completed year of service, up to a maximum of 25 days, plus 8 statutory bank holidays).
  • 6-month probation period.
